Malta and Gozo offer cyclists exciting landscapes, ideal for exploring by bike. Malta's mild climate, even in winter, makes it possible to explore the myriad of tiny streets and lanes which criss-cross the Islands… some are rough tracks giving a real sense of the harsh landscape; others are delightful village lanes passing by farmers tilling their fields. Most trails take you to stunning viewpoints.
The countryside can be as challenging or easy as you wish to make it. The north of Malta has some steeper hills and hairpin bends, whilst the central and southern areas are easier on the legs!
The sister island of Gozo, accessible by a 30 minute ferry crossing, has less traffic and offers spectacular rural landscapes throughout. Various competitive cycling events are regularly hosted by the Malta Cycling Federation.
